Could artificial pancreas and knee distraction be covered by basic insurance?

Two studies, coordinated by the UMC Utrecht, receive funding from zorginstituut Nederland and ZonMw via the Subsidy Scheme for Promising Care. A study into the (cost) effectiveness of the artificial pancreas in the treatment of people with type 1 diabetes will receive almost 10 million euros. Another study into the (cost) effectiveness of knee distraction for patients with knee osteoarthritis under the age of 65 will receive 6.7 million euros.
