Corona-proof internships: hybrid community-based research for students of the Humanities

Are you an MA student faced with the challenge of finding an internship in these uncertain times under the Coronavirus? Community-based Research for the Humanities can help! This education project coaches and supervises students in hybrid community-based research (CBR) projects during block 3 and block 4 that can meet the aims of an internship within their degree programmes.

The hybrid framework combines face-to-face internship activities (when conditions are favourable) with virtual approaches, for maximal flexibility that makes it possible to make progress on your research internship even in these uncertain times. A representative of the organisation that you are working with and a coach from the CBR team guide you through the community-based research process in small teams that meet virtually via videochat platforms, and your academic supervisor provides the academic guidance that insures your degree programme aims are met. With this guidance, you design and carry out a research project that takes into account your skill and interests, the needs of stakeholder organisations that you are working with, and relevant pandemic-related restrictions. Academic supervisors from the students’ degree programs provide academic guidance that ensures the program aims are met.

Learn more about the rich experiences and impactful research that have come out of the CBR-projects of students who previously participated here. Community-based research for the Humanities works with a range of small, locally-based organisations. For more information about doing a CBR internship with one of these organisations, contact project leader, Jocelyn Ballantyne.
