Centre for Academic Teaching starts Educational Database

At the request of many academic teachers, on 28 March the Centre for Academic Teaching has launched the Educational Database. This digital platform offers a space to find and share results and knowledge from educational innovation-projects, as well as input on how to develop and innovate your own teaching.

Utrecht University has traditionally given a great deal of attention to quality and innovation of academic teaching. Teachers take the lead in this, supported by the Utrecht Education Incentive Fund (USO), the Educate-it programme and advice from the Educational Resources Pool (EMP). The results of these projects can be used to further the development of other academic teachers. The Educational Database now offers the possibility to share acquired knowledge. Using the Database, teachers can learn from the experiences of their colleagues, easily get into contact with them, apply the results in their own teaching and use the information to start their own (follow-up) project. In addition, the Database offers a wealth of basic educational knowledge, compiled by Educational Consultancy & Professional Development and regularly updated. This makes the Educational Database the place where teaching staff and other staff involved in teaching can find and share knowledge on higher education.

Sharing knowledge easily

Manon Kluijtmans, Academic Director of the Centre for Academic Teaching: “We hope the Educational Database will make it easier for teaching staff to exchange knowledge, and that it will stimulate the continued innovation of higher education”. The site contains a search function and is equipped with filters, making any search even easier. The content is largely sourced from the knowledge platform previously featured on the TAUU website. It is further expanded to form the Educational Database. From now on, the site will continuously be updated and new knowledge and articles will constantly be added. The Educational Database can be found via the website of the Centre for Academic Teaching: www.uu.nl/cat
