Can I publish my article in open access? Check the Journal Browser!
The UU Journal Browser is now available for Utrecht researchers. This tool helps you to check open access publishing options in more than 38,000 academic journals. The International Open Access Week being held this week is a good opportunity to draw attention to the UU Journal Browser.
The Utrecht version is derived from the national general Journal Browser that is offered on openaccess.nl. The UU Journal Browser gives:
- Information on publishing in journals that are included in deals Utrecht University has closed with publishers (for instance BiomedCentral, BMJ, MDPI, Springer Open)
- Information about reimbursement from the UU Open Access Fund for journals registered at the Directory for Open Access Journals (DOAJ)
In the fall of 2019, Utrecht University signed the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA). This declaration aims at putting less emphasis on bibliometric indicators (for instance publications and citations) in evaluating researchers and research, but at adopting a more holistic, qualitative approach.
That is why a conscious choice has been made not to support options to search and filter by impact information. This decision also contributes to the broader discussion on recognition and rewards that is being held within the Open Science Programme.
