Andrea van Leerdam wins Victorine van Schaick award

Andrea van Leerdam, curator of printed works at Special Collections of Utrecht University Library Utrecht, has won the Victorine van Schaick award 2024 with her book Woodcuts as Reading Guides: How Images Shaped Knowledge Transmission in Medical-Astrological Books in Dutch (1500-1550).

The Victorine van Schaick Fund (in Dutch only) has been awarding prizes for publications and innovation in the information profession since 1978. In addition to articles, theses or dissertations, presentations, websites or other initiatives related to the library and information profession are honoured. This year's publication award went to Andrea van Leerdam.

From the jury report: What makes the significance of her research rise above that of a purely historical study of early modern practices is the application of the ideas of contemporary information design studies.
