Alle Scholen Verzamelen is now open for group 6, 7 and 8

Take your class on a Schoolyard Safari!

On 22 May 2026, it will be time for Alle Scholen Verzamelen. Groups 6, 7 and 8 from primary schools across the Netherlands will once again collect data and contribute to scientific research conducted by Wageningen University & Research and Utrecht University! But what exactly does this research involve?

Register your class

Let's investigate

We are taking as many pupils as possible on a Schoolyard Safari. Pupils will go outside to investigate the biodiversity in their own schoolyard. They will also interview their classmates about how connected they feel to nature. In half a school day, they will develop an investigative attitude, learn about biodiversity, and collect data for real scientific research.

Science is something you do together!

The pupils will, of course, be guided in their research by a group of enthusiastic and skilled researchers: a team of ecologists from Wageningen University & Research and a team of social researchers from Utrecht University (led by social psychologist Tina Venema, biogeographer Sietze Norder, environmental researcher Marie Jeanne Schiffelers and biodiversity programme manager Dorinne Raaimakers). These researchers will use the data collected by the pupils for real scientific research. Because science is something you do together! Here you will find an overview of the entire team.

Good preparation is half the battle

Classes that register will receive teaching materials before May. This allows them to get started with the theme with little preparation time and actively introduces pupils to science!

About the project

Alle Scholen Verzamelen is organised annually by all Science Hubs in the Netherlands. It is a citizen science project specifically aimed at children. This means that university researchers enlist the help of children from across the country to solve a research question together.
