Dr Kate Frederick (Programme Coordinator)
Kate Frederick is Assistant Professor in Economic and Social History at Utrecht University. She is specialized in the history of industrial development in comparative perspective, with a particular focus on the Global South. Within the Master History of Politics and Society, she introduces students to the use of comparative methods for historical research.
Dr Britta Schilling
Britta Schilling’s research interests include German colonialism, comparative studies of empire and postcolonial legacies. Methodologically she specializes in cultural history, memory and material culture.
Dr Liesbeth van de Grift
Liesbeth van de Grift is Assistant Professor in the History of International Relations. Her main research interests include the history of state planning, rural development and sustainability, with a focus on the changing relationship between governing authorities, non-state organisations, experts and citizens at various levels of governance.
Prof. Ido de Haan
Ido de Haan is Professor of political history and a specialist in the field of histories of citizenship, regime change and the aftermath of revolutions, and the repercussions of the Holocaust.
Dr Pim Huijnen
Pim Huijnen works as an assistant professor in Digital Cultural History at the Department of History and Art History. His research focuses on the use of digital text analysis to investigate the history of science and the history of ideas. He is, in particular, interested in conceptual history and the circulation of knowledge between the scientific, political and commercial domains and popular culture.
Dr Lars Behrsich
Lars Behrisch is an Assistant Professor for Political History at Utrecht University. He specialises in early modern European history, starting with France and Germany and extending to Russia as well as to the Netherlands and Britain. His teaching interests focus on early modern religion, politics and political culture, but also include urban history, the history of crime and social control and the comparative history of identities.
Dr Jochen Hung
Jochen Hung is an Assistant Professor. Hung's research focuses on the relationship between media, culture and society in modern history.
Dr Iva Vukušić
Iva Vukusic is an Assistant Professor in International History at Utrecht University, and a Visiting Research Fellow at the Department of War Studies, King's College London. I am a historian and a genocide scholar, and my work is on irregular armed groups, genocide and mass violence and transitional justice, especially criminal accountability.
Dr Auke Rijpma
Auke Rijpma is an Assistant Professor in economic and social history. My research interests include quantitative methods, the measurement of wellbeing, public services, and the link between family organisation and economic development.
