Your academic staff

As a Law and Technology in Europe student, you will receive a high-quality education in a stimulating academic environment. Our teaching staff are experts in their field and have substantial experience in practice. Our faculty researchers will share their knowledge and may invite you to assist in their own research. Besides this, our teaching staff will use their network and help you connect with professional organisations and institutions of interest. Guest lecturers from legal practices, government agencies and other institutions will share their experience, and offer inside information about the latest developments in the field of law and technology.

Core lecturers of our programme include:

  • Professor Sybe de Vries, Professor European Law. His research focuses on EU Single market law and the interconnection between EU free movement law and fundamental rights. He has led the famous bEUcitizen project for the EU Commission. 
  • Professor Janneke Gerards, Professor Fundamental Rights. Her research focuses on fundamental rights, equal treatment law, judicial review and constitutional law. The interrelation of the European Convention on Human Rights, EU law and national law plays a central role in her research. 
  • Dr. Alessia D’Amico, Assistant Professor Competition Law. Her research focuses on the regulation of digital platforms, in particular from a competition and data protection perspective.
  • Dr. Catalina Goanta, Associate Professor Private Law & Technology. Her research focuses on the private governance of Internet platforms, consumer forensics and native advertising on social media.
  • Dr. Evelien Brouwer, Assistant Professor Public Law, Migration & Technology. Her research focuses on the intersection of fundamental rights, particularly EU asylum and migration law, and technology.
