Global sustainability challenges ask for a transdisciplinary approach. So that’s exactly what this Master’s programme is about. You learn how to approach real challenges from different stakeholder- and intercultural perspectives, gain advanced innovative knowledge, and boost your research, entrepreneurial as well as creative skills. Global Challenges for Sustainability is initiated by the Challenge-driven, Accessible, Research-Based and Mobile European University. Or in short CHARM-EU, an European alliance formed by nine prestigious, research-based universities. Five of them jointly offer this Master's progamme: the University of Barcelona, Utrecht University, Trinity College Dublin, the University of Montpellier and Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. This partnership stands for a full intercultural, hybrid experience where students physically study at one of the five universities while simultaneously connecting with other campuses online.

Get ready for 2024
The study track is divided into three consecutive phases: the preparatory phase, flexible phase and capstone phase. During the first phase, you will be introduced to the main topics sustainability, social innovation and transdisciplinary research. Phase two, however, goes more into depth. You take modules from one of the three thematic sections ‘Water’, ‘Life and Health’ and ‘Food’. And last but certainly not least, during the last phase you’ll put your newly acquired knowledge to action by working on an authentic sustainability challenge together with fellow students, scientists and external business and society partners.
