Degree from a Dutch research university
This page outlines the step-by-step process for completing your application to a Master's programme at Utrecht University. Please read this information thoroughly before starting your application.
Degree from Utrecht University
This is a selective Master's programme. You will be considered for admission to the Master's programme Experimental Physics if you hold a bachelor degree of a Dutch resUniversity and can demonstrate a high level of knowledge and command of methods and skills in the relevant field.
Additionally we consider:
- Motivation and talent (also on the basis of average grade and past studies progress);
- General high level of professional and intellectual ability;
- Command of the English language (see below).
You should possess skills and knowledge in Quantum Mechanics, Statistical Physics at an advanced bachelor level and have general knowledge in Subatomic Physics, in Solid State Physics/Condensed Matter Physics and in Soft Condensed Matter Physics.
You should at least have to complete one of the following courses:
- Modern Condensed Matter (NS-352B)
- Subatomic Physics (NS-369B)
In case you have not taken any of these two courses, one of them can be taken as part of the MSc programme to remedy this deficiency.
UU Bachelor programmes that most likely meet the requirements are:
- A BSc degree in Physics and Astronomy,
- A major in Science with a strong component in physics.
Students with a Utrecht University College or Roosevelt Academy degree are encouraged to contact the programme coordinator to discuss their eligibility.
