The research groups have people of various disciplines and diverse backgrounds, which inspires and really gives the feeling of being in it together.

I started out with my Bachelor’s in Earth Sciences not knowing which of all the potential pathways to take. I tried several, and ended up completely captivated by paleoclimatology and paleoceanography. Thus, the choice for Earth, Life and Climate was innate.
It is clear that climate change poses a threat to the global society. By studying the past climate, we hope to learn what the future might bring. It is exciting to be able to contribute in improving this understanding directly using the awesome laboratories and instruments that our faculty offers. Besides this, the research groups have people of various disciplines and diverse backgrounds, which inspires and really gives the feeling of being in it together. Herein also lies the beauty of Earth Sciences: one can delve deep into a narrow specialism, and extrapolate the findings for the bigger, millions-of-years-old picture that is relevant for Earth Sciences in its entirety.
