Career prospects
During the Master’s programme, you will be challenged to determine which career perspective best fits your talents and interests. We will guide and support you to focus your programme on obtaining all the skills required for a certain career path.
Careers in Data Science
Over 10 years ago, Data Scientists did not exist. In 10 or 20 years, all institutions and companies will have some form of data-driven decision making. The Data Science concepts that we are taught are generally applicable on many domains and real life scenarios. Students that master these concepts will be able to build the Data Science tools of the future, and will become able to understand, adopt, apply and advance easily the new technologies that may appear in the upcoming years.
The Data Science Research Master’s mainly trains students to pursue a career in academia. While the Master’s programme primarily targets research and aims to deliver data scientists, it also acknowledges the diverse career paths its graduates may pursue, including managerial roles or entrepreneurship in data science.
Academic careers
This research Master’s prepares students for a research career. Students interested in research, can apply for a PhD position after graduation. Such positions are regularly available within the Utrecht University. There are ample contacts with other universities as well.
