Drastic change of the current Dutch agricultural model
Together with 4 other scientists, Dr Jerry van Dijk (Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development, Utrecht University) advocates for a drastic change of the current Dutch agricultural model. Nitrogen emissions due to livestock farming have risen so high that change is urgently needed. Van Dijk argues that drastic reduction of imported cattle feed and fertilizer should be the base of the new more sustainable model. Farmers should embrace this chance to get rid of the untenable current system they are in.
