Portray women and minorities as people who participate in the decision-making process

Prof Rosemarie Buikema (Gender and Diversity) and Prof Naomi Ellemers wrote in the Dutch newspaper NRC about the diversity policy of NOS News.

"Women and minorities should not only speak in the media about issues related to their gender, sexual preference or origin. They should talk about their expertise that has nothing to do with those things as well."

"Media provide stories that help us organise the world better. In those stories, it is often the white men who set the order. It is important to portray women and minorities as people who participate in the decision-making process."
