Youth Political Engagements in Argentina: Feminism, Climate Action, and the Rise of Far-Right Movements in a Changing Landscape
The IOS In/Equality Platform invites you to
How and why do youth become involved in politics? What factors drive youth involvement in feminist and climate change activism in Argentina? In what ways can the study of youth activism provide deeper insights into the broader political landscape and the dynamics of democracy? This public lecture is structured around these questions.
Youth activism and political engagement in Argentina
In her talk, Dr. Victoria Seca will explore youth activism and political engagement in Argentina over the past decade, focusing on the ways in which young people have shaped key movements and agendas. The presentation will cover the political, economic, and social context that frames youth participation, with special attention given to the challenges of inequality and precariousness. Two major areas of youth activism—feminist and climate change movements—will be highlighted, followed by a discussion of the recent and growing support for far-right governments among young people. The lecture will conclude with an examination of the diversity of youth political commitments and how these movements provide insight into the broader political dynamics shaping society today.
After the lecture there will be ample room for further discussion, moderated by discussants Romee Klis and Dr. Lorena Sosa. To conclude the event, drinks and refreshments will be provided for attendees.
