On 22 February there will be an evening lecture organised by the Humanities Honours Programme at Utrecht University on 'Urban Texts Across Cultures: Asia-Europe Encounters'. 

Speakers

The lecture will be given by Mr Sujaan Mukherjee (SYLFF Foundation Research Fellow, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India). Prof. Abhijit Gupta (School of Cultural Texts and Records and Department of English, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India) will also be present and participate in the discussion.

Sujaan Mukherjee

Sujaan Mukherjee is a JU-Sylff PhD Researcher at the Department of English, Jadavpur University, India. His primary academic interest is in urban studies and he has worked on projects such as "Envisioning the Indian City", Kolkata Scottish Cemetery project, and the Jewish Community of Kolkata digital archive. In 2015 he received an Archival Fellowship from the India Foundation for the Arts (Bangalore), which enabled him to work on the visual history of tourism in Kolkata.  For an article by him, see 'Cities from Above in Literature: Moscow, Kolkata'.
