Truth and Knowledge in the Future Digital Society

Climate change and other urgent eco-societal crises are complicated by the rise of powerful platform companies. Such tech firms not only provide the spaces and interfaces in/on which information is circulated about these issues, but they also embody the infrastructures and institutions that shape which knowledge is authorized and what value is placed on information. How does the epistemic power of Big Tech influence what we know about the environmental crises of our times? And do we have a sufficient grasp on how platform power shapes which futures become thinkable?

At this event, we seek to reflect on these questions as academics knowledge producers, citizens, and with the help of internationally recognized experts whose scholarship has highlighted themes of epistemic power, tech, and its eco-societal stakes.
