Training Opportunity: Local Response to Migration and Refugees
The Hague Academy for Local Governance is organising the Local Response to Migration and Refugees course, taking place from 7 to 18 July 2025 in The Hague. This two-week programme brings together professionals from around the world to explore how local authorities can effectively respond to the challenges and opportunities of migration and displacement.
The programme is particularly relevant to the Bottom-up Initiatives platform through the involvement of Dr. Karin Geuijen, one of the platform's core team members, contributing her knowledge and experience.
Participants will delve into:
- International frameworks and local responsibilities in migration governance
- Case studies from Uganda, the Netherlands, and beyond
- Strategies to foster inclusive services and social cohesion
Experts, such as Dr. Özge Bilgili, Ejibua Sam Anguzu, and Neda Malkawi, share theory as well as practical cases and lessons learned.
Field visits to Gemeente Rotterdam, the VluchtelingenWerk Nederland, and the Refugee Talent Hub will offer participants first-hand exposure to how local actors promote integration, inclusion, and resilience.
