Ieke Moerdijk

We are pleased to announce a two-day symposium at Utrecht University on 20–21 May 2026 in honor of Ieke Moerdijk. The symposium brings together colleagues and collaborators to celebrate Moerdijk’s contributions to algebraic topology and homotopy theory, as well as related themes including higher structures and operads and the topology–geometry interface through Lie groupoids and foliations.

The speakers are:

  • Clemens Berger - University Côte d'Azur
  • Christian Blohmann - Max Planck Institute
  • Pedro Boavida de Brito - Lisbon University
  • Denis-Charles Cisinski - Universität Regensburg
  • Rui Loja Fernandes - University of Illinois
  • Ezra Getzler - Northwestern University
  • Michael Hopkins - Harvard University
  • Joost Nuiten - University of Toulouse
  • Ulrike Tillmann - University of Oxford

The schedule and abstracts are below.

Registration is now closed. If you are still interested in coming to any of the talks, please email Emma England: e.e.e.england@uu.nl

Location

The venue is Utrecht Science Park. There are two lecture rooms being used:

  • Wednesday 20 May, the symposium will be in the Marinus Ruppert Building (Room 42)
  • From 13:30 on Wednesday and all day on Thursday 21 May, the location is the Victor J Koningsberger Building (Cosmos Hall)
  • Lunch both days is at the Living Grand Cafe. This is approximately a 500 metre walk from the lecture halls.
