Talk about inclusion at the Utrecht University Hall
In 2022, some students and staff reported that they did not feel welcome in the Utrecht University Hall. This was due to the many paintings in the building, which do not reflect the diversity of our university. A project team was asked: how can we adjust the interior of the Utrecht University Hall so that more people, of all backgrounds, beliefs and/or preferences, feel welcome here? How do we do so with an understanding of the past?
Last summer, adaptations were realised that help answer this question. We show the group portraits of research groups that have been created, emphasising the group over the individual. We open the exhibition 'Dimensions of (in)equality', about feeling welcome, highlighted from various perspectives of students and staff. Because we cannot erase our history but we can explain it, we also show how we have added context to stories in the Utrecht University Hall.
Sign up via the registration form for a special evening, which will be opened by art maker/actor Ayrton Kirchner. You will get a tour of the adaptations and can give your input to the panel discussion taking place about feeling welcome in the Utrecht University Hall
