Seminar: Perspectives on the transition to a circular economy

The hub Towards a Circular Economy and Society will offer a series of regular seminars on perspectives on the transition to a circular economy. Speakers from inside and outside the university will address current developments, new perspectives, and case studies.

The first seminar will be held on 20 January. It will have an interesting programme with three external speakers that will keep you up to date on the latest developments on research funding, the Green Deal from Brussels, and biobased materials:

  • Ardi Dortmans (TNO, TKI Chemie) on the developments within the NWA and NWO programmes on the circular economy
  • John Tieman (Ministry of I&W) on legal discussions on the circular economy in Brussels and The Hague
  • Gert-Jan Gruter (CTO Avantium) on the latest developments in the development of biobased materials within a circular economy.

The speakers will give 30-minute presentations, followed by ample time for questions and discussion. We will close the seminar with drinks. Come and join us!

The hub Towards a Circular Economy and Society is one of the hubs of Utrecht University’s strategic theme Pathways to Sustainability.

The hub is a platform for scientists of Utrecht University and stakeholders to jointly contribute to the transition to a sustainable circular society.
