Seminar Jineolojî: Kurdish Feminism

to
Koerdische meisjes en vrouwen

In collaboration with Marlene Schäfers (Cultural Anthropology, Utrecht University), the Gender, Diversity & Global Justice platform is organising a two-hour workshop on Kurdish Feminism on 25 September.

Please note the location of this seminar has been changed to Janskerkhof 15A, room 101.

Kurdish feminist knowledge

With this seminar, we aim to stimulate and exchange Kurdish feminist knowledge and activism within the European context. The speakers, Elif Kaya and Lena Wilderbach, are political activists and educators from the Kurdish women's movement. This event will be particularly interesting for students and academics focused on gender and decolonial feminisms.

Jineolojî: dedicated to women's and overall life sciences

Jineolojî (‘woman/life science’), developed by the Kurdish women's liberation movement, is a science dedicated to women's and overall life sciences, aiming to create a democratic, ecological society centred on women's liberation. It has spread across the Middle East and Europe, uniting hundreds of women from diverse cultures to collaborate on research, action, and educational projects.

Invitation to (re-)write history

Instead of studying women's lives from an outsider's perspective, Jineolojî invites women from various communities to research and (re-)write their history, define their concerns, and act together.

The Jineolojî Centre in Brussels organises exhibitions, seminars, training courses, workshops, and publishes articles and books. Their research and educational work aims to inform women and society, empowering them to act against violence and the patriarchal system while striving for social transformation.
