One question that kept coming up at the UCU Next Career Fair was:
"How do I get into tech or data work when my background is so interdisciplinary?"
We remember that feeling. The sense that data and coding was inaccessible and for people with a more ‘technical’ background.
So we designed a day to change that!
Science Disco is a one-day sprint where you'll work on a real research question from WWF Netherlands, dig into real public datasets, and leave with an interactive analysis on your own live self-hosted webpage - something you can point to in an interview and say: I built that.
During the day you'll get hands-on exposure to design thinking, data science with Python, GreenPT (a sustainable alternative to GPT models), and vibe coding with GitHub Copilot.
No coding experience needed. Just curiosity.
📅 Friday 12 June 📍 Brthrs Agency — Plompetorengracht 4, 3512 CC Utrecht
One thing to know: if we invite you to join, we'll ask you to do about 30 minutes of prep beforehand which involves setting up a GitHub account, installing VS Code, Python, and Git. We will send instructions to walk you through step by step so that on the day you're all setup and ready to go!
Interested? Fill in the form and we'll send you the prep work. Show us you've done it, and you're in.
