Remote teaching and co-creation: how to combine the two?

to
Puzzelstukjes co-creatie

Co-creation in education and research involves academic staff and students working together to design and create learning and teaching activities. This requires a shift from the traditional teacher-student relationship, which can be challenging. It becomes even more difficult when teaching is done remotely. So how do you begin a co-creation process?

On Wednesday, May 12, 12:00 - 1:15 p.m., the Special Interest Group (SIG) Co-creation will host a meeting on this issue. The title of this meeting is "Co-creation in higher education in times of Covid”. Interested? Sign up here!

Programme

During this session, Marca Wolfensberger (honours director of the Geosciences Honours College of the faculty of Geosciences at Utrecht University) and Marte Vroom (honours student Human Geogrpahy and Spatial Planning and research assistant) will discuss how the Utrecht Honours programme for Human Geography and Spatial Planning students of the Faculty of Geosciences has continued in times of the Covid-19 pandemic. What adaptations were made to the programme?

After that, Ferdi Engels (Professor of Pharmacology and Education at Utrecht University) will share his plans for starting an interdisciplinary co-creation project on death this year. What are points of attention when starting a co-creation project in times of remote teaching and learning?

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, May 12!

What is a Special Interest Group?

The Centre for Academic Teaching (CAT) facilitates interaction between UU teachers in order to exchange knowledge and expertise. One way this can be done is by participating in a SIG. SIG’s are initiated by teachers, and focus on a central theme (examples are Motivation, Community Engaged Learning, Research Skills). Each SIG organizes meetings, sometimes monthly, sometimes several times a year. There are now more than fifteen SIG’s, on a wide variety of themes. See here which SIG’s there are. Are you interested in a SIG? Then sign up! We will keep you informed by email about planned meetings.

About the SIG Co-creation

The SIG Co-creation is initiated by lecturers Marca Wolfensberger and Tatiana Bruni. The meetings aim to connect teachers and students who are involved or interested in participatory design and who want to learn from each other. Co-creation processes of teaching and research can be seen as a way to promote democratic values in higher education. These processes involve academic staff and students who take a collaborative approach to designing and creating learning and teaching activities. This requires a shift in the teacher-student relationship, which can be challenging. The SIG Co-creation aims to Sign up for this SIG here.
