REBO Impact Night – Freedom: a contested ideal

The year in which we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 150th anniversary of the effective end of slavery in our Kingdom, we are putting the theme of Freedom in the spotlight. Freedom seems so obvious, but daily reality shows that ensuring freedom is not self-evident. News reports on the war in Ukraine, climate threat, energy crisis, freedom of speech, and attacks on democratic institutions are the order of the day. Freedom is proving to be an unruly and controversial ideal.
