REBO Impact Café: The continuing impact of the history of slavery

The history of slavery is not a closed chapter. Its legacy continues to shape our society, and therefore also our education, our research and our ways of thinking. During this Keti Koti month, in which we reflect on the abolition of slavery and its continuing impact in the present, we confront ourselves with the question: where do we go from here, and how can Utrecht University take responsibility for repair?

We build on the research volume Sol Iustitiae Setting?, in which students and scholars reveal the continuing impact of the history of slavery within the university and the need for repair. This LEG Impact Café is an active space for reflection and discussion. Together with honorary doctor Linda Nooitmeer, former chair of NiNsee, other experts, students and scholars from all three departments of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance, we will explore concrete and necessary next steps in the areas of education, research and repair.
