R Cafe

Due to the exam period, the University Library has a restricted access policy. Make sure you bring the required identification to get access.

Do you want to enhance your R skills, meet other R programmers or ask questions related to R? Take your laptop with you and come to the R Cafe!

During this informal meetup, we will help each other with R programming, data handling and cleaning challenges. If you don’t have an issue, you are also welcome at the R Cafe, just to work on your code, or do learning exercises we prepared for you.

Showcase: Machine Learning in R (starts at 15:30, 30min)

Machine Learning, AI, supervised learning. There are many fancy terms for a pretty hot topic. Of course, R provides tools to carry out machine learning... Wienand Omta, co-founder of Core Life Analytics and PhD candidate at Utrecht University, will provide a short introduction with some tools and techniques to get the job done using R. We discuss preprocessing, sampling, training and applying a machine learning model.

The demonstration will be brief (30 minutes), such that there is plenty of room for all your individual questions afterwards.
