10 December 2018 from 15:00 to 17:00

R Cafe

Do you want to enhance your R skills, meet other R programmers or ask questions related to R? Take your laptop with you and come to the R Cafe!

During this informal meetup, we will help each other with R programming, data handling and cleaning challenges. If you don’t have an issue, you are also welcome at the R Cafe, just to work on your code, or do learning exercises we prepared for you.

Showcase: Long and wide data

Reshape, melt, cast, recast, gather, spread, stack, unstack… You might have some experience with these functions: they can be used to transform data from a wide format into a long format and vice versa, and are therefore essential for statistics and visualisation in R. But these transformations are not always intuitive, and it can be tricky to wrap your head around what happens to your data when you change the shape of your data frame. During this showcase, we will explain the ins and outs of long and wide in R!

The showcase will be brief (15-20 minutes), with room for all your individual questions afterwards.

Each R Cafe has a special theme. The theme is a short presentation or demonstration of (maximum) half an hour. The presentations are given by attendees of the Cafe. We are always looking for people who want to present something. Please send an email to Jonathan de Bruin for a request to give a presentation.
