PhD defence: Mechano-Catalytic Depolymerization of Polyolefins
This thesis showed that polypropylene can be converted into small hydrocarbons based on ball milling. The process is radical-driven and can be steered by using surface-activated mechano-catalytic spheres, engineering the forces involved, promoting radical degradation by milling with surface radical-generating solids, and using zeolite-based catalysts.
