This thesis aims to unravel the complexity of radicalization with agent-based modeling (ABM), by approaching the phenomenon as an emergent process that arises from interactions between underlying behavioral mechanisms over time. These mechanisms operate at the individual, social and ideological level and jointly shape how individuals perceive and select available courses of action.

By formalizing behavioral mechanisms and simulating their interaction, agent-based models allow the exploration of radicalization processes and trajectories as they evolve over time.
