Design, realization and management of the Evolution garden

Joris van Velthoven knows the Evolution garden to its deepest roots: as designer, project manager and garden manager.
Come listen to his story from the scientific planting plan to forming a new team for the Evolution garden.
The lecture (in Dutch) starts at 2 p.m. in the Tropical greenhouses.

Child's programme

Children can join the free programme (in Dutch) during the whole day:

• Garden lab: the Green time machine in the Educatief lab - You will puzzle with plants that are presented to you. This is how you learn to recognise properties and characteristics of plants. To do this, you will investigate, for example, the nerfs of plants, single- and multicellular plant species and different seeds.
• Super gliders by UMU in the Stretchtent - Look closely at seeds and how they float. Some do very well, and some don't. Why is that? Is it the shape, the thickness or the weight? Examine the seeds closely and then make your own super glider with all kinds of craft materials. Finished with your design? Test the design by levitating and timing it. Which of you will make the best super glider?
• Clap along with Keesje Klaproos - scavenger hunt (for children ages 4-8) goes from the Rock via the Bamboo forest and Tropical greenhouses to the Discovery garden and the Insect meadow. Along the way the children do all kinds of tasks, answer questions, jump like a frog and do puzzles.

Festive vibe

To give the entire weekend an extra festive vibe, you can also count on live music, fitting in the natural atmosphere.
An energetic and virtuoso trio with three guitars and three voices enriches the atmosphere in the Gardens with Catalan rumba and Spanish gypsy kings vibe. Enjoy the warm music full of sunshine and energy from Jasper, Joao and Filip.
