Opening outdoor exhibition photo contest 'Spreading wings and settling down!'
What does it actually look like: a plant that is ‘on the move’ or reaching new places? Discover it in this new outdoor exhibition featuring the winning photographs from the 'Spreading wings and settling down! photo contest.
Plants are never truly stationary. Seeds travel by wind, cling to animals, drift along with water, or unknowingly hitch a ride with people. In this way, plants spread across landscapes and sometimes even across continents. Humans also play a role: through trade, travel, and gardening we introduce plants to new places.
In a photo contest, we invited participants to capture one of the various ways in which plants reach new places. On 20 June, the three winners of the contest will be announced and their photos will be featured in the outdoor exhibition in the Insect meadow, on display until 1 September 2026.
