21 February 2020 from 19:30 to 22:00

New York City - Music & Science - with Dutch Harp Festival

Utrecht University and the Dutch Harp Festival would like to welcome you to an evening of music and science featuring French harpist Nikolaz Cadoret, Dutch composer Stef Veldhuis and UU oceanographer and climate activist Erik van Sebille. After a successful cooperation in 2018 the UU Alumni Network NYC is happy to work again with this Utrecht-based global music phenonemon.

The programme on 21 February opens with a solo harp performance given on both electric and acoustic style harps. A native of Brittany, Cadoret's musical style is a unique blend of his traditional Celtic roots influenced by classical music and liberated through improvisation.
Subsequently, a film documentary presented by Erik van Sebille, serves as an enlightening interlude in which he shares his research on ocean currents and climate change.
The audience will then be treated to a musical interpretation of the ocean data in a world premiere of Stef Veldhuis' "Music by Oceans" for solo harp.
Finally, a drinks reception will follow the concert.

We hope to see you there!
