National Ocean Science Conference
We would like to invite you to the second edition of the National Ocean Science Conference! From the equator to the pole, from the shore to the open ocean, from the natural sciences to humanities, law and governance, this day will allow you to hear what your fellow ocean experts are doing, expand your network and get inspired.
This year’s program features cutting-edge marine research, engaging breakout sessions, and valuable networking opportunities. Guided by our moderator Sjoerd Groeskamp, we will explore the theme “Whose Ocean? Whose Future? Whose Responsibility?” from diverse disciplinary perspectives—a timely discussion ahead of the upcoming One Ocean and UN Ocean Conference in Nice later that week.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or remarks to sustainableocean@uu.nl.
Call for posters
Are you an Early Career Ocean Professional looking for an opportunity to share your research / activities and connect with experts across disciplines? We invite you to submit a poster abstract via the registration form. Deadline for poster submission is the 13th of April. Our program board will review submissions based on abstract quality and disciplinary diversity and will get back to you latest May 1st.

About the moderator
Physical oceanographer Sjoerd Groeskamp investigates the mixing of water masses in the oceans to gain a better understanding of the Earth’s climate system, sea level rise, ocean circulation and transport of heat and carbon. To create awareness of the problems we are facing due to climate change, He combines his research with a wide range of outreach activities that includes a theater tour together with a Dutch comedian. As the ocean has a large role to play in our past, current and future climate, the national ocean science meeting is important to recognize this and connect the fundamental scientific knowledge with policy and stakeholders. Hopefully to provide a sustainable way to live with and from our ocean now and in the future.
