Join the Urban Futures Studio on June 30th for an engaging Friends of the Future seminar with Michiel van den Hout. Michiel is the general director of the Dutch Climate Research Initiative (Klimaatonderzoek Initiatief Nederland, or KIN). For decades, science has been clear about the urgent need to transition towards a system that is balanced with planetary boundaries. Despite all this knowledge, such fundamental changes remain far from being realised, and the climate crisis is worsening. KIN was recently founded to mobilise and combine the efforts of the many different actors that drive this change, accelerating transitions. KIN actively experiments with new ways of organising, directing, funding and facilitating knowledge development that supports climate transitions: knowledge in action. In his talk, van den Hout will explain what KIN does, showcase some of their recent projects, and show how KIN's unique and novel approach can increase the relevance of science in solving the climate crisis. This seminar is free and open to all. We do ask you to register via this link: https://forms.uu.nl/universiteitutrecht-geo/fotf-Michiel-van-den-Hout
