In the weekend of 25 and 26 March, Utrecht University Botanic Gardens and Groei & Bloei department Utrecht will again organise the Spring Garden Weekend. This year's theme is 'jungle in your room' with an extensive plant market and additional programme!
Are you creating a jungle in your room? Do you ever wonder where all that green in your home naturally occurs? During the Spring Garden Weekend 2023, we would like to welcome you to the natural habitat of houseplants: the Tropical Greenhouses of Utrecht University Botanic Gardens. While walking through this 'jungle', you will definitely discover some of your own houseplants.
Plant market
As always, the Spring Garden Weekend has an extensive plant market. Stallholders sell a wide variety of houseplants; plants for your living room, but also for your balcony or for the real enthusiast for the paludarium or plant showcase. Besides the indoor plant vendors in the Greenhouses, a number of outdoor plant vendors are also present in market stalls just outside the Greenhouses. The weekend is also our traditional start of the gardening season. A regular group of suppliers of bulbs, seeds and other garden plants will therefore be present as well. Stallhouders will be more than happy to advice you!
Programme
Part of our lecture, workshop and guided tours programme will be offered in English. A great way to learn more about the origin of house plants, wabi-kusa and plant cutting.
