Inclusive teaching: How to teach an international group of students
This session will be hosted in English.
Teaching in English in an international, diverse classroom is more than translating slides or assignments into English. It requires a methodical and didactic shift that affects how teachers design their courses, interact with students, and facilitate learning in culturally and linguistically diverse groups.
This workshop demonstrates three dimensions of diversity in international classroom:
- Cultural (e.g., differences in educational systems, teacher–student relationships)
- Linguistic (e.g., language use, classroom discourse, structural phrases, interaction)
- Inclusivity (e.g., teaching materials and assessment: whose perspectives are represented/missing)
In small groups, participants discuss cases around diversity. Participants may work with their own course materials to directly apply these insights to their teaching practice.
