Inaugural address Harry Hummels

Prof. Dr. Harry Hummels

In his lecture 'The 18th Sustainable Development Goal - Social entrepreneurship in a global society', prof. Hummels will address the meaning and the role of social entrepreneurship in contributing to sustainable development in general and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in particular. Against a backdrop of emerging social and environmental challenges as expressed in these SDGs, he argues that social entrepreneurship transcends the realm of individual entrepreneurs and small innovative enterprises.

Fundamental change of our current value chains facing the grand challenges posed by the SDGs only occurs if the required social and environmental innovation is adopted by mainstream companies, facilitated by an enabling environment. Does that suddenly mean that Tesla is a social enterprise?
