Giant pumpkins in the garden!
On 25 September the Dutch Championship Biggest Pumpkin will take place again. On this day there is also the Dutch Chili Fest, which is all about the chili pepper.
Whichever pumpkin wins the championship, it will be spectacular no matter what! The winning pumpkin of 2020 weighed more than 700 kilos. During the day not only pumpkins, but also other giant vegetables will be weighed and exhibited. You can taste pumpkin soup, carve pumpkins and children can get their faces painted.
Dutch Chili Fest
On this day, the Dutch Chili Fest will also take place. Dutch Chili Fest is the only Dutch festival completely dedicated to the chili pepper. A versatile (vegetable-like) fruit that can set your mouth on fire and tear through you like an inferno, but can also sometimes taste unexpectedly sweet. This tribute to the hot pepper translates into a day filled with spicy food and a variety of entertainment. While professionals and amateurs alike offer their peppery products at the market, there will be competitions to determine who can handle the biggest portion of spiciness, plus cutting edge music and of course an extensive selection of culinary deliciousness.
