From your climate science to society and policy: panel discussion for early career scientists [cancelled]
How can my research on climate change have an impact on policy and society? How do I translate my research for a broader audience? To discuss these and other questions, the Utrecht Young Academy is hosting a climate discussion between climate scientists and early career scientists. Discussion topics include how climate science is used in the general debate, policy making and the IPCC report.
Panel members Valerie Masson-Delmotte, Marcel Beukeboom and Roderik van de Wal will discuss the interface between science and policy. Valerie Masson-Delmotte is co-chair of the IPCC and Research Director at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission. She will also receive her honorary doctorate from Utrecht University the day before the panel discussion. Marcel Beukeboom is climate representative for the Dutch government. Roderik van de Wal is professor in sea level change and coastal impact at Utrecht University.
The panel discussion will be held March 27 from 09:00 – 11:00 in the restaurant of the Vening Meinesz building (breakfast opens at 08:30).
