Mandatory vaccination?

In recent years, the willingness of people in many countries to get themselves or their children vaccinated has been declining. Can the government use pressure or even coercion to get them to do so?

About Marcel Verweij and Lucie White

Marcel Verweij, Professor of Philosophical Ethics, specialises in practical ethics, with a particular focus on public health ethics. He explores the connections between moral philosophy, normative theory, and practical ethical decision-making. His work addresses public health issues that go far beyond a medical-professional perspective.

Lucie White is an Assistant Professor at the Ethics Institute and specialises in the ethics of crises and catastrophes. Her current research focuses on various interrelated questions about science-based policy during crises, concerning justification, trust, and responsibility. Additionally, she coordinates the research theme Health, science, and society.

Filosofisch Café

Philosophers from Dutch and occasionally international universities present their research in the Filosofisch Café and engage in discussions with attendees. Topics range from free will to melancholy, and from technology to climate ethics.
