Film screening: Minority Report

Human-centered Artificial Intelligence

to

The focus area Human-centered Artificial Intelligence organises a screening of the sci-fi action movie Minority Report, followed by a debate. Set in the Washington metropolitan area in 2054, the film follows a police department that uses psychic technology to arrest would-be criminals—until the system accuses one of its own. The film explores deep questions about free will, surveillance, and the ethics of predictive technology.

Thought-provoking panel discussion

Right after the movie, there will be a thought-provoking panel discussion featuring experts on human-centered AI and ethics. They will unpack the film’s themes such as the role of technology in moral and conceptual change, the ethical significance of social disruption, and the nature of just transitions and connect them to real-world technologies like predictive policing, algorithmic bias, and the future of justice.

The panel discussing the movie with the audience after the movie consists of Jan Broersen, Jeroen Hopster, and Maura Burke. The discussion will be chaired by Mehdi Dastani.

Stick around after the panel discussion for drinks with snacks and informal conversation. It is a great opportunity to meet fellow attendees, share your thoughts, and unwind.
