Haven't been to your old student town for a while? A lot has changed in Utrecht and at Utrecht University in recent years. Would you like to meet the city and your former fellow students again? The Faculty of Humanities invites you to a bike trip down memory lane on 25 September, led by alumnus Jelle Bakker: bike mayor of Utrecht!

Programme

At 10.30, Jelle will welcome you at Utrecht Central Station at the Jaarbeurs side to give you an introduction and a bike! After that, a route will take you past the not-so-new-anymore TivoliVredenburg, the old Post Office at the Neude, which now houses the new Library, across the reclaimed Voorstraat to the beautifully renovated Inner City University Library. There one of our scientists will welcome you and talk about the state of the Arts. Then past the International Campus / University College that houses our youngest study programme PPE, across the newly opened rainbow cycle path on the Utrecht Science Park - once the Uithof - to the beautiful new University Library for a lunch and mini-lecture. Afterwards, the tour leads back to Central Station via the Botanical Gardens.

Starting point

The tour starts at Utrecht Central Station exit Jaarbeurszijde. If you prefer to come to Utrecht by car - Jelle is not very happy about that of course - you can also park in the new parking at the Utrecht Science Park or at Stadion Galgenwaard where the new tram will take you to Utrecht Central Station in 20 minutes!

Tip for after the tour

Did you make some new contacts during the bicycle tour? You are free to spend the rest of the afternoon in each other's company: don't forget to take the route through the sparkling new Mall Hoog Catharijne, take a look at Catharijnesingel (canal) and make a diversion across the coloured stones of the renewed Domplein.
