Faculty Club Lecture by Anouk Keizer: Can a Robot Hug?

Can a robot offer us comfort? And can technology ever replicate the warmth of human touch? During this special lecture, Dr. Anouk Keizer, winner of the Klokhuis Science Award, takes us into the fascinating world of human–robot interaction.

Touch plays an important role in how people connect with one another. A hug, a hand on the shoulder, or a kind gesture can contribute to well-being and a sense of connection. But what makes human touch so special? And could robots ever play a meaningful role in this?

In her lecture Hugging a Robot, Anouk Keizer talks about her research into social touch and the possibilities as well as the limitations of robots in imitating human contact. There may also be an opportunity to experience a demonstration robot up close.

After the lecture, there will be time for questions and discussion. Afterwards, participants can choose to have dinner together with the speaker and continue exchanging ideas.
