Faculty Club in Conversation: Freedom & Peace – Rescheduled to October!

Freedom and peace may seem self-evident, but they are under constant pressure around the world. During Peace Week, we will discuss how we can protect these values in a world where security, democracy, and international relations are undergoing major changes.

Together with Utrecht Union, we are organising a special evening of reflection, connection, and dialogue. We will start with an in-depth panel discussion in the Faculty Club’s Living Room, where different perspectives from the university community will come together. Afterwards, we will move to the Aula of the Academiegebouw for an inspiring interview with a special guest, hosted by Utrecht Union.

What do freedom and peace mean today? What role do science, education, and social engagement play in addressing these questions? During this evening, there will be space to listen, reflect, and engage in conversation with one another.

Between the programme segments, there will be an opportunity to share dinner and continue conversations with the speakers and other participants. Members of the university community, alumni, and anyone interested are warmly welcome. The interview in the Aula is an additional programme component and can be attended optionally; a separate ticket is available for this part.

Programma:  

• 17:30 – 17:45: Arrival with welcome drink (Living Room)
• 17:45 – 18:45: Panel discussion Freedom & Peace, led by Utrecht Union (Living Room)
• 18:45 – 19:30: Dinner with the speakers (main course, including a drink and coffee/tea, €28.50 per person, reservation required) (Living Room)
• 19:30 – 20:00: Informal gathering (Living Room)
• 20:00 – 21:00: Interview by Utrecht Union with a special guest (Aula, Academiegebouw)
  Optional programme component; a separate ticket is available for the interview in the Aula.
