Faculty Club - Happy Hour February 'Human Rights'

This time, the Happy Hour is all about human rights. We welcome alumnus Hüseyin Ali Kudret and let you practice yourself how to hold the system accountable for a better future for all through the 'Human Rights Game'. There will also be live music by Django's Tigers and a reading by Vicky Breemen, UU poetry competition winner on human rights (musically accompanied by her sister Kelly). After the Happy Hour, we will offer a tasty Utrecht historical stew.

Are you coming on Thursday 6 February? There is a free walk-in at the Happy Hour; for the meal and 'Human Rights Game' we ask you to sign up in advance.

Programme:

17:00 - 19:00: Happy Hour with live music (free entry)
approx. 17:20: Short intermezzo by Hüseyin Ali Kudret
from approx. 17:30: 'Human Rights Game' in the Leeskamer
18:45: Recitation by Vicky Breemen, winner of UU poetry competition on human rights (musically accompanied by her sister Kelly)
19:15/30 - 21:00: A historical Utrecht stew for EUR 15 (upon registration)

About the game: Hüseyin is a UU alumnus (master Human Rights) and won Utrecht University's Kattadreuffeprijs 2024. They/them is committed to LGBTQI+ asylum seekers in the Netherlands and is closely involved with Amnesty International and the COC. Hüseyin takes us through the 'Human rights Game' by ‘Just Fair’ about our economic, social and cultural rights (ESCR). With the game, you will learn, among other things, how human rights work, who is responsible and what actions you can take to improve the situation. At the end of the game, we hope participants will have gained a better understanding of how human rights affect them and others and how, if you address human rights, you can initiate change. Will you join us?

During the Happy Hour you can catch up while enjoying a drink (half price) and appetizers from the club. Drinks can be paid at the bar. The cost for the dish of the day will be €15.00 per person. Feel free to take a seat at one of our tables and enjoy a historical Utrecht stew with other alumni and members of our staff.
