Event: The ICJ as the Main Judicial Organ of the UN: Recent Developments

On Friday 9 March, the Utrecht Centre for International Legal Studies will host a visit of three scholars in international law who share insights into the practical working and jurisprudential development of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).  The discussion will be chaired and moderated by Ms Lan Nguyen, Assistant Professor of Public International Law in Utrecht University. 

The panellists are:

Dr. Asier Garrido-Muñoz
Dr. Garrido-Muñoz is Associate Legal Officer at the ICJ since 2015. He was formerly Assistant Professor of Public International Law at the University of Salamanca, where he completed his Ph.D.

Solene Guggisberg

Dr. Solène Guggisberg
Dr Guggisberg is Senior Research Associate and a Nippon Foundation Senior Nereus Fellow in international fisheries law at Utrecht University. She was previously appointed as Associate Legal Officer at the ICJ. Prior to that, she was a policy officer at the European Commission, consultant for the Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Wildlife Fund, as well as junior counsel in the ITLOS case Bangladesh v. Myanmar. Dr Guggisberg completed her Ph.D. in law Bucerius Law School in Hamburg.

Dr. Kei Nakajima
Dr. Nakajima is Associate Legal Officer of the ICJ since 2017. He was formerly research fellow at universities in Tokyo and Kobe. He studied public and private international law in Tokyo and Geneva.
