The Dutch Delta Congress 2017 is taking place on 2 November in the WTC EXPO in Leeuwarden. Save the date in your diary, because once again it promises to be a varied and interesting day! Everyone who is involved in and interested in the Delta Programme, is welcome to the congress: social organisations, the business sector, knowledge institutions and local authorities.
During the plenary opening programme, the focus will be on the Delta Decision on Spatial Adaptation. Parallel sessions during the morning and afternoon will cover the challenges of the Delta programme: water security, fresh water supply, climate adaptation and water governance. The topic, participation, will also be addressed during the day. The Delta Parade is the central meeting place for sharing knowledge and experience.
Keynote speech: ‘Enthused about the future: time for imagination’
Professor of Urban Futures at Utrecht University Maarten Hajer will discuss what is required from the delta community in order to make the work on the delta a success both now and in the decades ahead, and how we gain enthusiasm and confidence to work on a sustainable and safe delta. Using a variety of examples, Hajer will clarify how success assumes that science, culture, administration and politics are involved.
The complete Delta Congress programme will be announced at the end of September and registration is now open. If you have any suggestions or would like more information, please contact the Delta Commissioner's office: firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the website.
