Cultural Appreciation Week

From to

Utrecht University is a place where cultures intersect. Each student, researcher, professor and staff member brings their cultural background to the community, enriching the academic environment and our community. The Cultural Appreciation Week was created with this spirit of inclusivity, offering a dedicated space to recognise, celebrate, and learn from the rich cultural tapestry that defines our university.

What is the Cultural Appreciation Week?

The week will feature a variety of student-led activities aimed at exploring, appreciating, and showcasing different aspects of the cultures - and their intersection and connections - that are part of Utrecht University. Workshops, a symposium, food festivals, and artistic exhibitions are just a few of the ways we will come together to share and celebrate our identities.

The Cultural Appreciation Week goes beyond traditional understandings of national or ethnic identity. Here, "Culture" is defined broadly, encompassing the shared values, beliefs, practices, and experiences of different human societies or social groups, and their intersection with others.

This initiative encourages dialogue and empowers our differences and our shared community. This way we can build stronger connections and think outside the box when it comes to our interactions.

The Cultural Appreciation Week will take place in Week 50, December 9th - 13th.

There by we have a little lottery going on: for evrey event you join, you will recieve a lottery ticket to join the lottery in the end of the week (by email)!

Hope to see you there!
