Conference 'The Aesthetics of Crossing: Experiencing the Beyond in Abrahamic Traditions'

From 19 to 21 March Utrecht University hosts the international conference 'The Aesthetics of Crossing: Experiencing the Beyond in Abrahamic Traditions'.

It marks the conclusion of the 4-year research project 'The Here and the Hereafter in Islamic Traditions' (HHIT), funded by a Starting Grant from the European Research Council for project leader Prof. Christian Lange (Arabic and Islamic Studies). This project investigated the extent to which Islamic traditions favour a view of human existence as directed toward the otherworld.

Keynote speakers at the conference will be:

  • Hans Belting (Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design)
  • Christian Lange (Utrecht University)
  • Lindsay Jones (The Ohio State University)
